home trends
As we speak, summer is really over now. A great opportunity to discover what the living trends for the upcoming season will bring. Autumn and winter are the perfect time to make it cozy inside and create a space for cocooning. What have I noticed? Next season's living trend seems to be a vibrant, colorful and eclectic mix. With a nod to nature, but in a subtle form, but also where retro influences and sustainability come together. It is an exuberant living trend, but applicable to any interior.
Living trends in a nutshell
Next season we continue to see a lot of jute, cotton, wool, stone such as clinker, ceramic and coconut in the interior that provides a warm and earthy look. The leaf and flower motif continues to return, but in a subtle form. Think for example of wallpaper or prints in a beautiful frame. But also in accessories. Furthermore, linen curtains are here to stay. They are timeless and actually applicable in any interior and give the room a nice finishing touch. And not very surprisingly, plants in the home are here to stay. You do not have to fill your whole house with them. Make a statement with 1 beautiful specimen or hang a few together for the playful but also retro aspect.
And this is actually a direct bridge to the next living trend you are going to see a lot.
Back to the seventies
If you are an avid thrift store visitor then you probably have a nose for vintage items. Sustainable living is a living trend that I don't really want to call a trend but should always be applicable in your interior. The use of natural materials and a preference for vintage and reused furniture ensures that you contribute to an environmentally friendly interior and you are hip too. So if you want to score something as well, start for example on marktplaats or take the plunge and plan a day of retro shopping and start looking!
Paint, color and design
Use lime paint for a matte and soft look that in turn perfectly matches the natural look of your interior and your retro style. Show stripes, stains and fossil prints in your designs and accessories for an even more earthy look and choose decorations in whimsical bold shapes. Floral patterns and plaid patterns are going to be widely used for upholstery, pillows and decorations. This adds playfulness and texture to the space.
This fall, we're going to show color. But then really! You're going to see a lot of cobalt and even darker blues, dark reds and greens. With these colors you can really make a statement in your interior.
tone it down with Flexa's 2024 trend color Sweet Embrace and other earthy tones such as ochre and terra, for example. Using dark colors can create a wonderful atmosphere but make sure you take into account the natural and artificial lighting in your home.
Certainly there is no question that this year's living trend is quite exuberant, and it shows a portion of guts to dare to do it. But always keep your personal taste in mind and remember that interior design should reflect what works for you. Dare to experiment with the living trend but create a space where you feel comfortable and happy.
